Booking Procedure & Terms and Conditions

Booking procedure

Please telephone to check the yacht is available on your required dates. A telephoned booking will be held for 5 days subject to receipt of the booking deposit of 25%. This may be made by cheque or by credit card (visa/mastercard/switch/delta). Diners cards and amex cards are not accepted.

We will send you a booking statement with charter agreement and skipper's qualifying letter and crew list. These should be returned within 14 days (although absence of crew details should not be allowed to delay returning the other forms). West Country Yachts reserve the right to re-sell the dates if these timescale's are not met.

Terms & Conditions

A 25% deposit reserves the vessel on the selected dates pending return of the charter agreement. The balance of 75% of the charter fee is due, along with charges for extras, 1 month before the charter commences. If the charter is booked within 1 month of commencement, the full amount is due immediately. If payments are not received on time, West Country Yachts may deem, at their sole discretion, that the charter is cancelled and may re-sell the booking.

If the charterer wishes to change dates within 1 month of commencement, West Country Yachts will make every effort to accommodate the request. If it is not possible, West Country Yachts will not be liable for the return of any payments.

Charterers are recommended to take out personal & cancellation insurance, which can be arranged through West Country Yachts and paid for with the deposit. Details available on request.

Balance payments (but not deposits) will only be refunded if:
- The charter is resold and written confirmation of cancellation by the charterer is received 1 month or more prior to commencement of the charter.

The vessels and their equipment are insured. However, this does not cover the charterer's personal belongings, motor cars, negligent acts or omissions or disablement, howsoever caused. All charters are bound by the signed charter agreements.

Charterers who leave vessels inadequately clean, or not filled with fuel, water & gas at the end of a charter, will be charged from the security deposit. There will be a surcharge to cover labour costs.

Security deposits are as stated in the charter agreement and will be banked. They will normally be returned 14 days after completion of the charter, less any disbursements which will be clearly listed.

Nothing in these terms, the charter agreement or any other paperwork raised by, or on behalf of, Portway Yacht Charters, relieves the charterer of his/her obligations to take every precaution to safeguard the vessel, her equipment, the charterer's crew or other personnel or equipment whilst in the charge of the charterer. Charterers are also reminded of their "duty of care" under current health and safety legislation.

Insurances mentioned will be voided by acts of negligence or wilful damage by the charterer.
